Ramesh Deo was a popular actor who used to perform side and yet important characters with superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha. Ramesh Deo made his debut in the 1951 Marathi film Paatlaachi Por with a cameo. Ramesh Deo started his film career in the Marathi movie Andhala Magto Ek Dola (1956), directed by Raja Paranjape. He started off as a villain but eventually made it to the supporting actor role. He had worked in more than 285 Hindi films, 190 Marathi films and 30 Marathi dramas with over 200 showings in his long career.

His son and noted Marathi actor Ajinkya Deo mentioned "My father was not keeping well for the last a few days. He was experiencing breathlessness on Wednesday morning. So, we admitted him to the hospital and he passed away in the evening due to a heart attack.’’ The last rites of the 1926-born actor will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Vile Parle cremation ground near Pawan Hans terminal.
