Ranveer Singh starrer 83 could not do much in its first week trends while the previous champs Spider Man No Way Home and Pushpa continued to spark at the box office.
Much was expected from Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Pankaj Tripathi starrer 83 due to humongous star cast, mega budget and solid trailer. However, the cricket biopic drama failed at the box office in its first week itself. Directed by Kabir Khan, 83 and produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films and Kabir Khan Films Production, 83 opened on a low note with Rs 12.64 crore from 3741 screens nationwide. There was a slight jump on Christmas day with Rs 16.95 crore but Sunday was limited with Rs 17.60 crore.
The cricket biopic drama dropped on Monday to Rs 7.29 crore while Tuesday and Wednesday were stable with Rs 6.70 crore and Rs 5.70 crore. As per early report, the cricket biopic drama dropped further on Thursday, minting Rs 5.10-5.20 crore and bringing the first week total to around Rs 71.50 crore crore in Hindi. The good news is that 83 will not face any competition this week due to Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey getting postponed. However with huge budget close to Rs 200 crore and restrictions due to rising COVID-19 cases and limited occupancy, 83 has dim chances to sail it through at the box office.
Spider Man No Way Home, has done a fabulous business with Rs 148.07 crores in the 8-day extended first week followed by another solid Rs 26.85 crores in the Christmas weekend. The super hero drama held well on its second Monday, collecting Rs 4.45 crore followed by Rs 3.65 crore on Tuesday and Rs 3.10 crore on Wednesday. As per early trade report, the latest Spider Man flick collected somewhere between Rs 2.70-2.80 crore on 2nd Thursday, bringing the 15 days total to an outstanding Rs 188-189 crore.
Spider Man No Way Home has already become the third highest grossing Hollywood film in India beating Jungle Book which collected Rs 188 crore and should do well in third week as well.
The Allu Arjun and Fahad Faasil starrer Pushpa had shattered all the box office records as it collected an outstanding Rs 26.95 crore in its first week in the Hindi version. The action drama did well in its second weekend with an amazing Rs 10.35 crore. Due to its mass appeal, Pushpa held well on the weekdays with Rs 2.75 crore on Monday, Rs 2.50 crore on Tuesday and Rs 2.40 crore on Wednesday. As per early trade report, the action drama collected Rs 2.20 crore on Thursday, bringing the 14 days total to a solid Rs 47-47.40 crore. With this total, Pushpa has comfortably beaten Yash starrer KGF 2 to become the 4th highest grossing Hindi dubbed film.
Pushpa had also crossed its budget which was Rs 180 crore as it collected Rs 186.72 crore in all languages from around 3000 screens across India.
