Probably coming at the best time of the year when audience were in the mood of celebration, Good Newwz was directed by Raj Mehta and starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles. Good Newwz had holiday weekend and the New Year holiday along with impressive star cast which helped the film to open well at the box office with Rs 17.56 crore which made it the 3rd best opening film of Akshay Kumar this year after Kesari and Mission Mangal but ahead of Housefull 4. Good Newwz also became the 9th best opening film of 2019 and 7th best opening film of Akshay Kumar. Due to solid word of mouth reviews, the comedy drama went on to collect a staggering Rs 205.09 crore by the end of its theater run against a budget of Rs 60 crore.
