Don't Look Up starts with two scientist, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, discovering that a Mt. Everest sized like comet, termed as planet killer, is headed towards Earth which is even bigger than the one that wiped out the entire dynasty of dinosaur. Alarmed and tensed with the critical situation, they decide to inform the President of United States Of America (Meryl Streep) and her office. However, none from President's office believe them until the catastrophic rock destroys the entire planet.

Directed by Adam Mckay (The Big Short and Vice), Don't Look Up is one of the most anticipated films of the year due to the presence of extremely talented star cast and high production values. Initially the film starts of as a political satire when no one including the media, society and even the tech giants believing the harsh fact of a comet being on the collision course with Earth. Few scenes will bring down the house like Leonardo DiCaprio expressing his heart-felt sorry to a popular pop singer (Ariane Grande) for her break-up or both scientist trying their best to convince the President's office how grave the situation is.

The disaster film loses the track slightly in between but bounces back with an eye-popping climax which is sad yet possible in the near future. Adam Mckay and David Sirota (writer) succeeds in giving out an important message which uses comet as a metaphor for climate change which is causing global warming. The comedy drama shows the true reflection of people who do not want to hear the terrible news until they become victim of their own activity. (similar to the COVID-19 situation may be ?). The climax of Don't Look Up is also impactful showing how beautiful Mother Earth and its babies are destroyed at the behest of human being. On the flip side, considering the high-expectation from the film, the screenplay and editing could have made it more interesting while unnecessary love affair between Leonardo DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett made no sense.

With few hiccups, Don't Look Up boast off strong background score and even more stronger performance from the star cast. DiCaprio as usual was good. Jennifer Lawrence was solid and so was Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill and Mark Rylance.

Overall, Don't Look Up is an important film with a very strong message that is required to be heard and followed if we want this planet to strive for coming generations. Very good 3.5/5
