Directed by Ranjit M. Tewari and written by Aseem Arrora and Parveez Shaikh, Bell Bottom was announced last year but the casting was not finalized. After it was confirmed that Huma Qureshi join the film who will be playing a key role in the 80s period film, which has been inspired by true events, Vaani Kapoor joined the star cast. The makers announced few days back that Bell Bottom will hit the theaters on 26th July. However, the COVID-19 cases showed a spike with a onset of second wave and the release date was again kept on hold.

As the Maharasthra health minister announced on 26th July that few cinemas will open in the places where the number of cases are less. Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to announce the great news that Bell Bottom will release on 19th August. The trailer of Bell Bottom is 3 minutes 29 seconds long and is simply astounding with enthralling cinematography, punching dialogues and of course Akshay Kumar who rules the show with his gracious presence. The response to the trailer has been fabulous garnering 43 million views in 15 days (it was launched on 3rd August) while the promotion by Pooja Films have been superb.
However, the current challenges with Maharasthra cinemas being shut down and 50% occupancy allowed by government will pose a threat to the box office collections of the action thriller. The only respite is from states like Gujarat, UP and Rajasthan which should give some hope. Last week, Punjabi film Puaada has done well in the North India and Akshay Kumar has a huge fan base, so we expect an opening between Rs 5-6 crore on its first day.
Bell Bottom is produced by Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani under the banner of Pooja films and Nikhil Advani under the banner of Emmay Entertainment.
