There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Shilpa Shetty starrer Dhadkan. The Suicide Squad Review – Pumps Up The Adrenaline With Gun Blazes, Witty And Fun-Filled Popcorn Entertainment
Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, who earlier made Raja Hindustani, Dhadkan started on a slow note at the box office but picked up later thanks to the wonderful music by Nadeem Shravan and nice performances. The movie turned out to be a decent performer at the ticket window, collecting Rs 14 crore against a budget of Rs 9.5 crore.
Sarpatta Parambarai Movie Review : Electrifying Boxing Drama That Creates Magic With Brilliant Performances
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006)
After the successful collaboration of Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, the dynamic duo were back with Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and this time, icing on the cake was Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was completely like what one would expect in a typical Karan Johar film – high production values, rich and glossy sets , shooting at a foreign location. The promotion of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was solid along with tuneful songs which led to a very good opening at the ticket window. Unfortunately, the romantic drama received mixed reviews by the critics and audience which led the film to collect only Rs 44.65 crore against a budget of Rs 45 crore.
Toilet – Ek Prem Katha (Rs 2017)
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet -Ek Prem Katha catches your attention from the initial reels with light humor and feel good songs. However, the main story unfolds when Jaya discovers the absence of a toilet at the house. The drama gets more intense when she proposes to build a toilet at home which is vehemently rejected by her father-in-law. If the first half comprises of romance, family drama and songs, second half brings well-intention messages of usage of toilet in the villages. Akshay Kumar delivered another knock-out performance. I was surprised to see the transformation of fat-to-fit Bhumi Pednekar from Dumb Laga Ke Haisha
Toilet -Ek Prem Katha was a pleasure to watch not just for its satirical humor on Indian Sanitation system, but also for its beautiful message on honesty and bravery. The comedy-drama collected Rs 133 crore against a budget of Rs 75 crore.
