James Wan infused the horror fan for a thrilling ride with The Conjuring series, The Insidious and treated them with the extremely mysterious and thrilling SAW franchises. Now the director is back with yet another solid horror flick, Malignant, which looks awesome.
James Wan had created a solid fan base with his thrilling SAW which gave us a solid twist and bore new part in the franchise. He brought the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren with The Conjuring (2013) which turned a blockbuster and earned very good reviews. Wan was also the reason behind the success of Insidious which was another runaway hit. Now, the director returns to favorite genre with Malignant for which the trailer was released just few hours back.
Malignant tells the story of Madison (Annabelle Wallis) who finds that the nightmares she has been getting everyday is turning out to be true. As Madison goes back to her past, she finds that there is an imaginary person, Gabriel, who is behind all the murders she witnesses in her dreams.
James Wan re-unites with his team from the previous films - director of photography Don Burgess and editor Kirk Morri (Aquaman, The Conjuring 2), production designer Desma Murphy (Aquaman, Furious 7), as well as costume designer Lisa Norcia (Insidious: The Last Key). The music is by Joseph Bishara, who composed the score for all seven films in The Conjuring Universe.
Malignant is based on an original story by Wan and is produced by himself and Michael Clear and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Malignant will have simultaneous release in theaters and HBO max on 10th September 2021.
