One such royal descendant has recently come forward claiming to be the owner of Taj Mahal. Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy claims to be the descendant of the Mughal empire. He claimed to be the sixth generation heir of Bahadur Shah Zafar, connecting him to Aurangzeb, Akbar and Babur. He came to limelight after he announced that he was the owner of Taj Mahal, the iconic white mausoleum built by Shahajaan for his wife Mumtaz. To confirm the claims, he even submitted his DNA report that was accepted by the Hyderabad court.

Tucy has been involved in the Ram Mandir- Babri Masjid controversy as well. The controversy surrounded the land and which religious structure should be built, since Hindus believe that Lord Ram was born at the place. The prince has also claimed to be the owner of the land in Ayodhya where the Ram Mandir has been built and even challenged the WAKF board.

Tucy said in an old interview, “We have issued an order to Wakf board, that it is not their property. It is a property issue and if turns out to be Babur’s property, then we are the owners of it. And, as the owner of the property, we don’t have any issue with the Ram temple being built there. Not only will I present a golden brick, I will also hand over the entire land for construction of the temple.”

Prince Tucy currently lives in Hyderabad and is the Mutawalli & Caretaker of Aurangzeb’s Grave. The prince recently filed a petition in light of the recent vandalisms of the tomb of Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, “sends Representation to Hon’ble President of India requesting her to pass the orders to Government of India or State Government for the protection of Monument/ Grave of Aurangzeb Alamgeer RH.”

The public perception of Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy is strongly associated with his regal Mughal heritage. His sense of style bears witness to the tradition, since he usually wears the long, stately robes and a similar headdress worn by Mughal emperors. Additionally, his attire boosts the image of a man of royal blood who takes pride in his ancestry and background.
