In a bizarre and shocking incident, a team of doctors in Madhya Pradesh successfully removed a 16-inch-long bottle gourd from a man's rectum during a two-hour operation. The surgery took place on July 21 at Chhatarpur district hospital.
The patient, a farmer from Khajuraho, arrived at the hospital in critical condition, experiencing severe abdominal pain. Medical exams revealed the presence of a foreign object, later identified as a bottle gourd, which had entered his body through his rectum, causing internal injuries.
Dr. Nandkishore Jatav led the surgical team in the complex operation to extract the gourd. Fortunately, the patient has been declared out of danger.
The circumstances surrounding how the bottle gourd ended up in the man's rectum remain unclear. It is suspected that the patient may be suffering from a mental illness, prompting the unusual incident. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
Dr. Jatav stated, "The patient came with abdominal pain and was found to have a gourd inserted into his rectum. We performed the surgery with the help of two other doctors and successfully removed it."
The patient has not disclosed whether he inserted the gourd himself or if there was another reason for its presence.
