US Embassy Recommends US Citizens in Lebanon Leave on ‘Any Available Ticket’

The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon has urged Americans still in the country to depart using "any available ticket" due to concerns from the Biden administration about a potential regional conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Last week, the State Department upgraded the security threat level in Lebanon to "do not travel," leading to widespread flight cancellations to and from Beirut. Most major airlines have suspended flights to the country, complicating efforts for some individuals to leave.

Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer stated in a CBS “Face the Nation” interview on Sunday that the U.S. is working to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Hezbollah after months of clashes.

“We’re preparing for any possible scenario,” he said. “We’ve been clear that we will support our ally Israel in defending itself against significant threats, and we are currently facing a heightened threat level.”
