UK Joins US and France in Validating India's Bid for UNSC Permanent Seat

Starmer says in his address to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly held in New York, “We want to see permanent African representation on the Council, Brazil, India, Japan and Germany as permanent members, and more seats for elected members as well”.
At the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has backed India's stance for a permanent seat. Minister Starmer said, "the Security Council has to change to become a more representative body, willing to act – not paralysed by politics” at the UN  General Assembly on Thursday. 
Starmer also adds, “we want to see permanent African representation on the Council, Brazil, India, Japan and Germany as permanent members, and more seats for elected members as well”
There are total 5 members in UNSC. The United States (US), China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom (UK), being the five permanent members. 
Elected for two-year terms, are the remaining ten non-permanent members.
In interests of the developing world, India has long sought a permanent seat in the Security Council as a fit representative. With support from the international community, the nation's quest has gained a lot of momentum. 
Taking India’s Stance 
France and the US supported India's bid for a permanent seat at the UNSC, long before British PM Starmer 
French President Emmanuel Macron addresses during his speech at the UNGA - “So let’s simply make the UN more effective, first and foremost by making it more representative. That's why France, and I will say it again here, supports the expansion of the Security Council. Germany, Japan, India, and Brazil should be permanent members, along with the two countries designated by Africa to represent it," 
India's bid for a permanent seat at the council was also supported by US President Joe Biden last week.
