Modi Emphasizes Terrorism's Unacceptability in Call with Netanyahu

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two leaders discussed the situation in West Asia, with Modi stating, "Terrorism has no place in our world. It is essential to prevent regional escalation and ensure the safe release of all hostages. India is committed to supporting efforts for the prompt restoration of peace and stability," he shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The conflict in West Asia, ignited by the kidnapping of Israeli citizens by Hamas, has intensified.

Israel's retaliatory actions in Gaza have broadened, now targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah following their attacks on Israel, as well as Yemen's Houthi rebels who have also aimed at Israel.

Israel has conducted airstrikes in Lebanon and has informed the U.S. about its plans for a limited ground operation, according to the Washington Post. On Saturday, the Israeli military reported that it had eliminated Hezbollah leader Nasrallah in a strike on the group’s command center in Beirut. Meanwhile, hardliners in Iran are advocating for severe actions against Israel, including the potential closure of the vital Strait of Hormuz and advancing nuclear weapon development. Netanyahu has responded, asserting that there is no area in the Middle East that is beyond Israel's reach.

Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah during a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot in Beirut today.
