Kamala Harris Reacts to Gaza Demonstrations During Rally

At Harris’s Detroit rally, demonstrators in the audience repeatedly shouted as the vice president addressed a packed airplane hangar, chanting, “Kamala, Kamala you can’t hide, we won’t vote for genocide.” The crowd responded with boos and countered with chants of “Kamala.” Harris remarked, “I’m here because we believe in democracy. Everyone’s voice counts, but I am speaking now. I am speaking now,” prompting applause.

As the interruptions continued, Harris issued a more direct warning.

“If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking,” she declared. Protesters against the Gaza conflict had been following President Biden on the campaign trail for months, carrying signs and shouting during his speeches with phrases like “blood on your hands,” “genocide Joe,” and “cease-fire now.”
