The deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, marked by widespread protests over the past few weeks, has compelled Indian students to return home using available routes. On Friday alone, more than 300 students crossed through northeastern border points.

The unrest stems from clashes between Bangladeshi students and security forces, along with pro-government activists, protesting the reintroduction of job reservation in government sectors. The demonstrations, ongoing for approximately three weeks, intensified notably after violence erupted at Dhaka University on Monday. The ensuing day saw six fatalities, prompting the government to declare the closure of universities nationwide.

The students expressed their cautious approach initially but ultimately opted to temporarily depart Bangladesh following a near-complete internet shutdown enforced on Thursday. Additionally, severe disruptions to telephone services further isolated them from their families.
