In a move that has garnered both praise and criticism, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal swapped his boardroom responsibilities for a day as a food delivery agent. Accompanied by his wife, Grecia Munoz, the couple hit the streets of Gurugram to experience the daily grind of Zomato delivery agents firsthand.
Goyal shared the experience on Instagram, posting photos and a reel of their adventure. In one of the photos, the couple can be seen riding their bikes and laughing together, while in another, they are seen checking their phones to scout out delivery locations.
The reel, which captured their journey through the streets of Gurugram, was captioned, “Loving delivering food to our customers, and enjoying the ride.”
The post quickly gained traction, with over 28,000 likes and nearly 12,000 views on the reel. While many applauded Goyal’s hands-on approach and his effort to understand his employees' work, not everyone was impressed. Some users appreciated the gesture, calling him “down-to-earth” and making light-hearted comments like, "Bro, deliver to Old Gurugram too, not just Cyber City."
However, others criticized the move, calling it a "publicity stunt." One user commented, “Not sure about this. But you definitely love the whooping platform fee you charge from your loving customers. Nice PR stunt."
Despite the mixed reactions, the day highlighted Goyal’s commitment to understanding his workforce's challenges, while also sparking a debate on social media about the intentions behind such initiatives.
