On Thursday, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly had a narrow escape when his car was involved in an accident while heading to Burdwan for an event. The accident took place in a rural part of Hooghly, where two cars in his convoy suffered minor damage. Fortunately, Ganguly was unharmed and proceeded with his planned schedule without any interruptions. No injuries were reported among the people in the convoy vehicles.
"In the sudden movement of the lorry, the driver of Ganguly's car had to apply a sudden brake which led to a collision with vehicles in his convay following him," a police officer of West Bengal Police said.
"One vehicle even hit the car in which the former cricketer was travelling. Two vehicles in his convoy sustained minor damages," he said.
The former cricketer was travelling to attend a programme organised by Burdwan University, the officer said.
"He (Ganguly) attended the programme later on. It went smoothly," the policeman said.
Sourav Ganguly confirmed that Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will play him in his upcoming biopic, though the film's release will be delayed due to scheduling conflicts. Ganguly, a former cricketer with numerous accomplishments, became the president of the BCCI in 2019 after retiring. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is working on multiple projects, including Bhool Chuk Maaf, a quirky film about a time loop during a wedding, and Maalik, set for release in June 2025.
