“Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Ranveer Singh," his spokesperson said.
The purported viral video showed the actor criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Varanasi.
A video circulating online allegedly features the actor from 'Padmaavat' expressing political opinions, but investigation reveals it's manipulated using an artificial intelligence voice clone.
Despite the authenticity of the footage depicting his recent Varanasi visit, the audio is artificially generated to mimic Ranveer's voice. Ranveer took to Instagram on Friday, cautioning his followers with "Deepfake se bacho doston" (Friends, beware of deepfakes).
