  • IMD Issues Red and Orange Alert In Mumbai

The IMD's latest forecast warns of heavy rain in Mumbai until Tuesday afternoon, with a red alert. Raigad and Ratnagiri districts also face a red alert, while Palghar and Thane have been issued an orange alert. IMD Director Sunil Kamble informed that 270mm of rainfall was recorded between 2 AM and 6 AM on Monday. The Met Department has issued an ‘orange’ alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai for the next 24 hours. 

  • 51 flights were cancelled to and from Mumbai till 11 am

51 flights were cancelled by 11 am, trains and BEST buses were affected by submerged tracks and roads, causing traffic standstills. The BMC declared a holiday for all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges due to the weather conditions.

During heavy rainfall on Sunday, local train services between Kalyan and Kasara stations on the Central Railway were temporarily disrupted. However, the railway authorities have now reinstated services with reduced speed. A statement shared on platform X (formerly Twitter) by the Central Railway acknowledged the inconvenience caused and expressed regret for the disruption due to inclement weather conditions.

Suburban train operations on Central Railway are disrupted in Mumbai due to heavy rainfall. Services are impacted at Sion and between Bhandup and Nahur stations.
