A woman of Indian origin, traveling to India to reunite with her family, tragically passed away aboard a Qantas flight in Australia. The incident occurred on June 20, when the 24-year-old, identified as Manpreet Kaur, boarded a flight bound for Delhi from Melbourne. According to a friend, Kaur had reportedly felt unwell prior to boarding but managed to board the plane without any apparent issues.
"As she was getting onto the plane, she was having difficulty fastening her seatbelt… Just before takeoff, she collapsed in her seat and passed away instantly," her friend told the Herald Sun.
Allegedly, tuberculosis is cited as the cause of Kaur's demise.
As per the victim's flatmate, Kaur was employed at Australia Post while pursuing studies in culinary arts, with aspirations of becoming a chef in the future.
Meanwhile, Gurdip Singh Grewal, a friend of Kaur's, has initiated a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to collect funds for her family. Currently, the campaign has raised $31,347.
"Hello, I'm Gurdip Grewal and I'm raising funds for Manpreet Kaur. She was a student from our village who was returning home. She tragically passed away on a flight during takeoff at Melbourne Airport. Our dear friend Manpreet has left us too soon, leaving an irreplaceable void in our lives. As we mourn her loss, we wish to come together to honor her memory and provide support to her family during this difficult time," Grewal wrote on the fundraising page.
"As we bid our final farewells, every donation, regardless of size, brings us closer to our target. Your support is invaluable to us and to Manpreet's family," the message further stated.
