In an alarming incident that unfolded on January 15, a disturbing video capturing an assault on an IndiGo co-captain by a passenger during a flight delay announcement has gone viral on the internet. The incident occurred on the Delhi-Goa flight, where passenger Sahil Kataria assaulted co-captain Anup Kumar, leaping over a food trolley during the announcement.
Flight delays are commonplace, especially during the winter season, and usually occur due to uncontrollable factors. However, this incident took an unexpected turn as the visibly agitated passenger physically attacked the pilot, Mr. Kumar, who had recently replaced the previous crew as per standard procedures. The viral video, initially shared on an Instagram story by user Evgenia Belskaia, shows the assailant, identified as Sahil Kataria in a yellow hoodie, confronting the pilot as he expressed his frustration with the delay. In the video, the passenger can be heard telling the pilot, "Nahi chalana toh mat chala, bol de (If you don't want to fly the plane, then don't)." Flight attendants attempted to intervene, urging the passenger to stop his assault.

As the situation escalated, a man in a blue hoodie tried to calm the aggressor down. In a subsequent video, the same passenger is heard screaming, "Chalana hai chala, nahi chalana mat chala, khol gate (fly if you want to, otherwise open the gate)," before being restrained by a co-passenger.
Following the incident, the unruly passenger was handed over to the police at the Delhi airport. While deboarding, he apologized with folded hands, saying, "Sir, I am sorry." However, the captain, not visible in the video, responded with, "No sorry, you raised hands on me."

In response to the incident, netizens on social media platforms expressed shock and condemned the assault. While some called for strict action against the passenger, others acknowledged the frustration passengers may feel during unexpected delays.
