Despite the government restriction on key places in India and rising COVID-19 cases, Vakeel Saab starring Pawan Kalyan broke the box office record by beating Vijay starrer Master at the Indian box office in its opening weekend.
As per the latest report, the court-room drama has grossed more than 100 crore at the worldwide box office.
A remake of Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari starrer Pink, which earned accolades for its strong message, the Telugu remake Vakeel Saab starring the superstar Pawan Kalyan roared at the box office with stupendous performance. The hard-hitting drama opened to a bumper response in the morning shows in Andhra Pradesh where still 100% occupancy is allowed. The film was expected to open around Rs 30 crore but it exceeded the expectations and opened to Rs 40 crore beating the Tamil film Master which collected Rs 34.80 crore on its first day.
There was a big drop on second day with Rs 17.10 crore followed by another drop on Sunday with Rs 16.05 crore, bringing the thundering first weekend collections to Rs 79.25 crore crossing the opening weekend numbers of Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Master which collect Rs 69 crore when it was released in January this year. With 4 days collections, Vakeel Saab stands at Rs 92 crore. Due to the partial holiday in Andhra Pradesh, Vakeel Saab might go up on Tuesday minting somewhere between Rs 8-9 crore.
In the overseas market, the Pawan Kalyan starrer minted another mind blowing figure of Rs 10 crore, bringing the world wide total to Rs 102 crore. Vakeel Saab is directed by Venu Sree Raam and produced by Dil Raju and Boney Kapoor.
