Sachin Tendulkar And Zakir Hussain's Video Goes Viral
Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain passed away in a hospital in San Francisco, US, said his family on Monday. He was 73. He passed away due to an extensive illness stemming from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis according to the family.
"He passed away very peacefully after the ventilation machine was switched off. This was 4 pm San Francisco time," his sister told PTI.
Zakir Hussain and Sachin Tendulkar played on the same stage in a memorable show for the UC segment in January 2011 in Mumbai. This combination is usually known as a ‘jugalbandi’, in which Tendulkar set the tabla beside the master of the instrument.
The performance received huge attention from fans on social media and later viral with praises on how they complemented each other musically. Tendulkar shared the video, expressing his confidence and mastery over the musical instrument alongside Hussain.
Regarded as the greatest tabla player of his generation, Hussain has a wife Antonia Minnecola and two daughters -- Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi.
