The only dream that the City of Dreams could not fulfil for ages was its lack of green spaces, and the ones that can't be traversed by locals but all that is about to change as the city gets its first-ever elevated forest walkway in Malabar Hills. The walkway is said to open by the end of December this year.
The 705-metre-long walkway will connect Kamala Nehru Park to Doongerwadi Woods in Malabar Hills. The walkway is made to cater for joggers and nature lovers. It blends in with its surrounding forest without causing any harm but also provides a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea. It is going to be the first ever elevated walkway in the city, finally adding a much-needed green space in the city’s Southern tip.
The project is constructed at an expense of ₹25 crores and it is near completion. While no opening date has been announced yet, reports suggest that it would open for the general public by the end of this year.
The walkway is inspired by Singapore's treetop bridge and is designed with a glass bottom deck and has a sturdy steel framework.
