The defending champions Mumbai Indians will be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL opener on April 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After winning the fifth IPL title in the previous edition which took place in October last year, Mumbai Indians is undoubtedly the favourites to win the trophy in the upcoming season also. The Rohit Sharma led team will be aiming to become the first time in the history of IPL to win the trophy thrice in three consecutive years. MI has a bunch of talented players in the squad whom they can trust in the upcoming edition of the tournament to win the trophy. Let’s have a look at the three players who could play a crucial role for MI in IPL 2021:

  1. Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav has been the most consistent batsman for Mumbai Indians in the past three years. The top-order batsman made his much-awaited international debut against England in March, he went on to smash a maximum to Jofra Archer on the first ball he faced in international cricket. He played three T20Is against England and scored 89 runs at an impressive strike rate of 185.42 with an average of 44.5. The 30-year-old cricketer could play a major role in MI’s sixth title victory.

  1. Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard was in a roaring form with his bat in the previous IPL edition. His services at the back end of the innings have made a difference for Mumbai Indians on several occasions. The T20 specialist hit six sixes against Sri Lanka recently which sets up the tempo for the 33-year-old cricketer ahead of IPL 2021.

  1. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya has been in good touch since December last year, after a decent IPL with the bat he was also the man of the series in the T20I series against Australia. In the upcoming IPL, Pandya will be playing as a proper all-rounder which will provide an extra bowler for the team who can break the partnership in the middle overs. In the ODI and T20I series against England which took place in March, Pandya was seen clearing those boundaries with ease in the slog overs.
