On the third day of his libel trial, against News Group Newspapers, actor Johnny Depp denied hitting ex-wife Amber Heard. It has been alleged that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had been violent after suspecting her having an affair with Spiderman actor, James Franco.
Johnny Depp had sued the newspaper group for labeling him as a wife-beater. Depp is suing The Sun newspaper and it’s executive editor, Dan Wootton, over an April 2018 article about the matter.
There was some exclusive grilling at the London High Court from The Sun’s lawyer, Sasha Wass. However, Depp acknowledged that he may have done things he can’t remember under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Heard has alleged slapped and kicked her on a flight due to her alleged affair with actor James Franco.
But Depp has denied assaulting Heard.
After the flight, Depp had texted his actor friend, Paul Bettany, saying he had consumed powders, half a bottle of Whiskey, a thousand red bull and vodkas, pills, 2 bottles of champers (champagne) on the plane. Wass came forward with this text.
As a result, Depp had been in a blackout, screaming obscenities and insulting any (person) who got near.
Depp said, “I may have done things that I have no memory of. But I am certainly not a violent person, especially with women.”
Neither Heard, 34, nor 57-year-old Depp is on trial.
