This Day That Year Box Office Trivia : When Vaastav, Mast and Aakrosh Were Released On 15th October

There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Sanjay Dutt starrer Vaastav, Aftab Shivdasani and Urmila Matondkar starrer Mast and Ajay Devgan, Akshay Khanna and Paresh Rawal starrer Aakrosh were released. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.

Vaastav (1999)

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Vaastav was loosely based on the life of Mumbai underworld gangster Chhota Rajan. The film was very well received by both critics and audience alike. Sanjay Dutt was praised for his powerful performance. The film turned out to be a big hit in domestic market, bringing Rs 11.42 crore against a budget of Rs 7.50 crore

Mast (1999)

Everyone had a lot of expectations from Ram Gopal Varma directed Mast as he had his lucky mascot, Urmila Matondkar. Based on his own story on his infatuation with actress Sridevi, Mast had a amazing songs by Sandeep Chowta and good debutant Aftab Shivdasani. Unfortunately, the screenpla was loose and it turned out to be a flop at the box office, collecting Rs 5.27 crore against a budget of Rs 6 crore.

Aakrosh (2010)

Call it a timing of the release or bad luck at the ticket window, Aakrosh was one of the perfect crime drama with a brilliant direction by Priyadarshan, electrifying performances by Ajay Devgan, Akshay Khanna and Paresh Rawal. Unfortunately, the film tanked at the box office, minting Rs 13 crore with a budget of Rs 38 crore.
