There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Danny starrer China Gate, Akshay Kumar, Sunel Shetty and Govinda starrer De Dana Dan and Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Tamasha. China Ghate (1998)
Directed by the powerhouse of Indian cinema, Rajkumar Santoshi, who gave us ground breaking films like Ghayal, Damini, Andaz Apna Apna and Ghatak, China Gate had the right star cast with eye-popping performances, good story, tight script and super action scenes. China Gate turned achieved a cult status among the movie goers.
China Gate collected Rs 12.65 crore against a budget of Rs 9 crore and turned out to be a semi-hit at the box office.
De Dana Dan (2009)
The combination of Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty was back again and this time with Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy, De Dana Dan opened well but due to below average, the comedy drama could not sustain well and turned out to be an average grosser, collecting Rs 48 crore against a budget of Rs 60 crore.
Tamasha teaches us that each and every moment in life should be enjoyed but life becomes more precious when you are adored and loved by someone special in life. Ranbir Kapoor bounced back with Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha in 2015 after struggling for quite sometime. Though Ranbir and Deepika was praised for his mind blowing performance, Tamasha was a moderate success at the box office, earning Rs 67.90 crore against a budget of Rs 60 crore.
