There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Ajay Devgan, Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Manoj Bajpai and Amrita Rao starrer Satyagraha, Bobby Deol, Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Basu starrer Chor Machaye Shor and Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Raveena Tandon, Milind Soman and Prabhudeva starrer Agni Varsha. Let us check how these films fared at the box office
Directed by Prakash Jha, who is the master story-teller of hard-hitting films, Satyagraha, released in 2013, tells the story of fight against corruption. Reviews for the political drama were mixed but critics praised the performances of the leading stars. Unfortunately, the film opened to “Average” occupancy across India and ultimately boiled down to “Flop” status at the box office.
Chor Machaye Shor
Directed by “King of comedy”, David Dhawan, Chor Machaye Shor, released in 2002, was poor remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Golmaal where Bobby Deol played the role of Amol Palekar and Paresh Rawal played the role of Utpal Dutt. The direction, screenplay and even the songs were a big disappointment which turned the movie into “Flop” at the box office.
Directed by Arjun Sajnani, Agni Varsha, clashed with Chor Machaye Shor on the same day. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Nagarjuna and Raveena Tandon in lead roles, Agni Varsha was a non-starter at the box office. The worst part was that it met with poor reviews and was ultimately labelled as “Flop” at the box office.
