In midst of urban city life where everyone is tied to theirs jobs, family ,responsibilities etc. one always tends to forget living their life to the fullest.
Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Barfi, a message-oriented film, inspires to enjoy every second of your life as you will never get another chance to live. Let us check how it fared at the box office as the comedy-drama completed 8 years today.
Anurag Basu (Murder , Life in a Metro) has surely been inspired from Charlie Chaplin’s antics to put in more fun-loving character of Barfi. But more than that, Basu has created a different scenario in the Indian Cinema by capturing the nature’s beauty at its best. The screenplay was tight holding viewer’s attention to the core. Art direction was gorgeous. Camera-work by Ravi Varman needed special mention here. He truly captured the beautiful locales of Bengal in his camera. Since both Ranbir and Priyanka did not have many dialogues, it is background score which emblems well with the scenes here. Music by Pritam was soulful.
Ranbir Kapoor is a gifted actor like his parents and took his family name to one level next with Barfi. The versatile actor emoted so accurately through his facial expression that it was difficult to imagine anyone else in this character. He was funny, witty, and impressive with perfect timing of his body language. Priyanka Chopra was a complete surprise in portraying the role of mentally challenged girl with ease. She gets into the character completely and gives an electrifying performance. Illeana did a fantastic job as new-comer. She showed a full-fledged support to the movie and was loved by audience for her adequate role.
Barfi turned out to be “Superhit” at the box office, collecting Rs 106 (approx) against a budget of Rs 50 crore and was the first film of Ranbir Kapoor to enter the 100 crores club.
