There were four significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon starrer Mohra, Amitabh Bachchan, Kay Kay Menon and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Sarkaar, Imraan Khan, Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das starrer Delhi Belly and Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
Directed by veteran Rajiv Rai, the man behind blockbusters like Tridev and Vishwatma, Mohra was already a big hit even before its release thanks to the memorable songs like “Tu Cheez Badi Mast” and “Tip Tip Barsa Paani”. The Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, Raveen Tandon and Naseeruddin Shah starrer masala entertainment became “Blockbuster” at the box office.
Inspired by the Hollywood film, The Godfather, Sarkar was a genuine attempt and a perfect remake by Ram Gopal Varma. The song–less film was brilliantly with electrifying performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon coupled with a tight script, sexy dialogues and admiring camera work. The movie was “Super-Hit” at the box office.
Delhi Belly (2011)
If you have not seen Delhi Belly, you better make sure it is added on your watch list. The movie, starring Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das, is a laugh-a-thon right from the beginning till the end. Hats off to Abhinay Deo for giving us an entertainment which will bring down the house with utmost hilarious scenes.
Bbuddha Hoga Terra Baap (2011)
From the directed of Pokiri (Telugu), Puri Jaganath forayed into the Bollywood with Bbuddha Hoga Terra Baap. Unfortunately, it was a big failure thanks to weak direction and poor screenplay. The silver-lining was the ecstatic performance by Amitabh Bachchan.
