There were two significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Sunny Deol starrer Border And Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee starrer Chalte Chalte. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
Probably one of the most memorable war film of Indian cinema, Border shattered all the box office records when it was released in 1997. Based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Border was directed by veteran J.P Dutta and starred actors like Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna and Jackie Shroff.
The war film made a solid profit of Rs 40 crores (approx) against a budget of Rs 10 crores, making it a “All-Time Blockbuster” at the box office.
Chalte Chalte (2003)
Earlier supposed to feature Aishwarya Rai, Azeez Mirza directed Chalte Chalte starred Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in key roles. Though the movie took a “slow” opening at the box office, thanks to the good reviews, fantastic songs, star cast and marketing, the romantic-drama jumped up well at the box office.
Chalte Chalte did well at the ticket window, minting Rs 20 crores (approx) against a budget of Rs 11 crores, turning out to be an “Hit” at the box office.
