This year, one sector that has been grappling to be in the business is the tourism sector. As such, airlines in many countries are not faring will. In such a scenario, many airlines have come up with innovative ideas to keep their business afloat. The latest one to join the bandwagon is Thai Airways.

Reportedly, the national carrier has transformed the cafeteria of its Bangkok headquarters into an airline-themed restaurant. The airline, which had to keep most of its planes grounded, has a restaurant open for those who have been missing travelling and in-flight meals.

Diners are flocking the Thai Airways pop-up restaurant to taste the flavours of on-board dining. Also, those craving in-flight meals got a chance to step out of their homes, and get a reminder of how it feels like dining in a restaurant in these COVID times.

Apart from dining, diners also get the opportunity to meet cabin crew, who greets visitors in full uniform just like in the flights. The restaurant is also adorned with airplane seats and parts to lend it an authentic aircraft feel.

Revealing more information on this, Thai Airways Catering Managing Director Varangkana Luerojvong said that spare parts from fan blades, engines, and windows were used as furniture. Also, each decoration comes with a QR code attached to it, so that visitors are able to look up information about the parts.

A number of diners here expressed that they really liked the idea of a plane meal without having to buy a flight ticket.
Varangkana further added that the restaurant serves around 2000 meals per day, and that there are plans that other offices of Thai Airways will be converted into similar dining experiences. He mentioned this is a way via which they are trying to recoup some lost revenue during the ongoing crisis.
