Despite being screened at the few theaters and facing Kalank, the collections of The Tashkent Files is unstoppable at the box office on its 12th day.
The Tashkent Files, featuring Shweta Prasad, Mithun Chakraborty, Pankaj Tripathi, Naseeruddin Shah and Pallavi Joshi is growing strength to strength day by day due to solid user’s feedback (BookMyShow.com and IMDB.com). The mystery thriller, which revolves around the mysterious death of India’s 2nd Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri has performed better on its second Friday as compared to its first Friday collection at the ticket window.
The Tashkent Files opened to Rs 40 lakhs on its first day. The hard-hitting drama grew well on the second day with around Rs 80 lakhs. The collections went further up on Sunday with Rs 1 crores. The feedback from the audience have been positive which led The Tashkent Files to collect Rs 35 lakhs on Monday which is almost at the same level as Friday. The collections on first Tuesday was better than Monday with Rs 36 lakhs. Due to the big release, Kalank, the screen counts of The Tashkent Files reduced to 160 screens (not to mention that the movie has not been released in few cities) but it still managed to collect Rs 30 lakhs on Wednesday followed by Rs 27 lakhs on Thursday, ending the first week collections with Rs 3.50 crores.
Since Kalank has under performed now, The Tashkent Files collected a very good Rs 5.80 crores after 10 days. The crime-thriller was stable on its second Monday with Rs 46 lakhs. There was a very good growth on second Tuesday with Rs 58 lakhs, bringing a total of Rs 6.84 crores.
