The highly anticipated Indian Premier League auction 2021 which took place on February 18 in Chennai saw a couple of expensive and shocking bids for the shortlisted 291 players. The all-rounders had a good day in the auction as bidding wars took place when talented all-rounders from all around the globe where introduced. - Chris Morris
Chris Morris’ purchase by Rajasthan Royals created history as the South African all-rounder becomes the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals had a bidding war for the all-rounder in the second set of the auction. While MI left the bidding half way but RCB and RR went ahead. As the bidding war concluded and Morris ended up in Rajasthan’s camp for a whooping price of 16.25 crore. RR’s fans and followers will expect a splendid performance from Morris in the upcoming IPL season.
- Yuvraj Singh
Before Chris Morris went under the hammer in the auction 2021, Yuvraj Singh was the costliest player in the IPL history. In the year 2015, the star Indian all-rounder had a base price of 2 crore, Delhi Daredevils went on to bid 15 crore for the southpaw which made him the most expensive buy in the tournament. The legendary Indian cricketer was also the most expensive player in the 2014 auction when he was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins also features in the most expensive players’ list as the Australian pacer was offered a bid of 15.5 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous auction. There was a bidding war between several team owners to bag the pacer as the Aussie player has made a big name for himself in the international cricket.
