Park Shin Hye Overlooked by Baeksang Awards Despite Powerful Comeback

SBS has officially announced the renewal of its dark fantasy legal drama, The Judge from Hell, for a second season. The confirmation came during the New York Festivals Storytellers Gala 2025, where the series received the bronze award, highlighting its global appeal. The show's Chief Content Officer shared the news during the acceptance speech, stating, “We will be back soon with Season 2. As long as the law is unfair, The Judge from Hell will never stop.”

Lead actors Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young are set to return for the upcoming season. Park will continue her role as Kang Bit-na, a judge possessed by the demon Justitia, while Kim will reprise his character, Detective Han Da-on. Their performances were central to the show's success, earning them the Best Couple Award at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards. 

The first season, which aired from September to November 2024, garnered impressive viewership ratings, peaking at 13.1% nationwide. The series' unique blend of supernatural elements and courtroom drama resonated with audiences, leading to multiple awards at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards, including Top Excellence Award for Kim Jae-young and Director's Award for Park Shin-hye. 

While specific plot details for Season 2 remain under wraps, the creators have hinted at deeper character development and more intricate storylines.
