Netflix has launched a new show ‘The Big Day’ on Valentine’s Day. The show is trending on #1 on Netflix. The three episodes show is produced by Conde Nast India.

As the show consists of three episodes, it comprises six couples, two in each episode, who are getting married. It is Netflix’s modern way to look at traditional marriages.

The first episode ‘Love Is In The Details’ showcased a long term pair, Aman and Divya and the other couple was Nikhita and Mukund.

Aman and Divya have been together for 11 years and are wanting to celebrate their wedding at Alia fort, Jaipur. Divya wants the wedding to be sustainable, employing and involving local artists.

On the other hand, Nikhita and Mukund come to Chennai to celebrate their wedding. No less than a fairytale the wedding happens at the seashore in Mahabalipuram.

The first two weddings are the exact definition of a big fat Indian wedding.

The couples from the second episode, Nitin-Ami and Pallavi-Rajat question the rituals of the wedding.

Pallavi opposes every other ritual including kanyadan; Ami and Pallavi are strong-headed women, who have their opinions. But their nature takes a difficult turn and says no to sangeet decided by the family.

The last episode attacks on the stereotypes of Indian weddings. It shows the story of Aditya-Gayeti and the gay couple Tyron and Daniel.

Aditya and Gayeti’s marriage is a private affair and matches with modern couples.

Tyron and Daniel celebrate two weddings, one in Germany and the other in Goa.
