There are a variety of reasons why this has become the trend in the Indian market. The foremost is the fact that Chinese electronics are much cheaper than those manufactured elsewhere. As disposable incomes are not rising as fast in India as in many other countries, consumers here, prioritize affordability over anything else. Chinese electronics are also seen as being of much better quality as they utilize advanced technologies that help them remain reasonably priced.

In addition to readily available Chinese products, such as smartphones and basic televisions, many Indians are also opting to purchase Chinese-branded electronics for their homes. These include air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines, among other items. The fact that Chinese products in these categories are surprisingly cheaper than all other brands has made them corner the Indian market quite easily.

But, there is yet another aspect to this trend that cannot be ignored. Many Indian households that wanted the latest electronic gadgets for their homes found it difficult to purchase the same from international brands. This is because most of them, especially the high-end ones, require higher maintenance and often come with additional warranties and service charges that most Indians cannot afford. Chinese brands, on the other hand, mostly come without any such attached charges and services—which makes them much more attractive to Indian consumers.

It is clear that in the last twelve months, Indians have opted to purchase ‘Made in China’ gadgets for a variety of reasons. For one, Chinese-branded electronics are of good quality and are often more affordable than other brands. Moreover, most come without additional service or warranty charges, which makes them more attractive to Indian consumers. With Chinese products thus dominating the Indian market, it looks like it will continue to be a major trend for the foreseeable future.
