After becoming the 11th highest grossing film of all time, Tanhaji did fantastic business on Sunday which was good enough to cross the 250 crore milestone. .
Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior continued to take in moolah as it came back with a bang on fourth Saturday and Sunday after dropping on Friday due to new releases. The historical drama which was released on 10th January when it clashed with the much popular Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak, had a superb first week with Rs 118.91 crore while the second week ended with a bang minting Rs 78.54 crore. Last week, it faced Kangana Ranaut starrer Panga and Varun Dhawan starrer Street Dancer but still collected Rs 40.42 crore in the third week.
Despite the release of Saif Ali Khan and Tabu starrer Jawaani Jaaneman, Tanhaji dropped reasonably well with Rs 2.77 crore on fourth Friday. Tanhaji shot up on fourth Saturday with Rs 4.48 crore while Sunday was beautiful with Rs 6-6.5 crore bringing the 24 days net total to Rs 251-252 crore, becoming the first film of 2020 and Ajay Devgn to join the 250 crore club. Yesterday, it also crossed the lifetime collections of Vicky Kaushal starrer URI-The Surgical Strike (Rs 244.14 crore) and Hrithik Roshan starrer Simmba (Rs 244.05) to become the 11th highest grossing film of all time in Bollywood.
Tanhaji-The Unsung Warrior tells the story of Tanhaji Malusare who was a military leader in the Maratha Empire and has fought alongside Maratha leader Shivaji Maharaj in various battles throughout the years. Tanhaji Malusare is popular for his role in the Battle of Sinhagad and is played by Ajay Devgn.
