Swachhta Café opens in Himachal Pradesh to promote regional cuisine, ban single-use plastic

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur recently inaugurated the Swachhta Café at Nalagarh in Solan district. According to the latest reports, the online launch was organised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.


As reported by news daily, the state government has begun an initiative to remove use of polythene and single use plastic. Under the Buy Back Policy, food items were being given to the people in exchange of single-use plastic.


A shop named Him Ira had been opened in the building to sell medicinal plants like giloy, peppermint, neem leaf powder, date palm brooms, wheat flour, pulses, spices, vegetables etc. would sold at fair prices. This would also give income to the local rural women of the place.


MLA Doon Parmjeet Singh Pammi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister J.C. Sharma were present at Shimla with the Chief Minister whereas former MLA K.L. Thakur was present at Nalagarh.
