Ever since the inception of COVID-19 a.k.a Corona virus disease, the world has been impacted mentally, physically and financially which has caused severe destruction to everyone’s life. Step Out, a short-film, gives out a well-intentioned message on the mental health in a span of 10 minutes.
Bliss Movie Review – Salma Hayek And Owen Wilson’s Sci-Fi Fantasy Is High On Concept, Low On Execution
Step Out tells the story of a psychiatric patient, Krish, (Dev Dutt), who has is suffering from a mental block down due to the lockdown stress. As he unravels his pain to his doctor, Dr. Rekha (Neha Dhupia), the story unfolds with a twist in the end.
Produced by Neha Dhupia and directed by Hridaye Nagpal, Step Out succeeds in giving the holistic view of situations occurring in the mind of a mental patient who is disturbed with thinking, moods, erratic behavior increasing the risk of disability, pain, death, or even loss of freedom. The sensitive situation is further aggravated when you are away from the loved ones and can only prevented if you let out your inner feelings.
Step Out turned out to be interesting thanks to solid performance by Neha Dhupia who succeeds in emoting expression through her performance. I felt Dev Dutt was less convincing and could have performed well as a patient suffering from mental disorder.
Overall, Step Out is a good watch which stresses the need to talk especially if you are suffering from depression. Nice 3/5.
Step Out is produced by Big Love Productions and Strangelove Studios. The Short film is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
