In the pre-quarterfinals, Lakshya Sen defeated his Olympic village roommate, HS Prannoy, with scores of 12-21 and 6-21, making him India's last hope in badminton at the Games.
Then, on Friday, Lakshya Sen advanced to the semifinals by beating Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen, ranked 12th in the world, with scores of 19-21, 21-15, and 21-12. This win boosted India’s hopes for another medal.
