Dayal's touching message followed controversial remarks made by former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who claimed that Kohli's aggressive demeanor had resulted in him having fewer friends and that Kohli was responsible for instigating a conflict with Afghanistan cricketer Naveen-ul-Haq during an IPL game between RCB and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

On Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube show "Unplugged," Amit Mishra stated, “He (Kohli) started hurling abuse at our players (during the LSG vs RCB rematch in Lucknow). He had no personal issues with Kyle Mayers but still abused him. He also hurled abuse at Naveen-ul-Haq while he was bowling. Many things could have been avoided, but Kohli chose not to.” Mishra continued, “While on social media it might seem like everything was resolved, do you really believe Naveen will ever hold Kohli in high regard again? What about the young players who saw a major star behaving in such a way?”

Meanwhile, Kohli has been taking some well-earned time off following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Recently, he was seen at a kirtan (a devotional musical chanting) led by Krishna Das at Union Chapel in London, enjoying the moment with his wife, Anushka Sharma.
