Virat Kohli captivates Bengaluru Crowd Amidst Rain-Delayed Showdown

There was little for the crowd to honour at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the opening session of the 1st Test match between India and New Zealand on Wednesday. Continuous rain delayed all action, stopping the toss too. Anyways, supporters found a reason to cheer when local favorite Virat Kohli entered into the field. 

Kohli, a long-time member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise since the Indian Premier League (IPL) began, shares an extraordinary bond with the fandom. The crowd blowed up in excitement as Virat arrived under an umbrella before heading to an indoor training forum. Rain delayed the toss on day one of the Test match.

The crowd screamed for Virat Kohli at Chinnaswamy Stadium today. Rohit Sharma's in-form India are powerful favorites at home, having lately swept Bangladesh 2-0.

New Zealand, missing their buddy batsman Kane Williamson due to injury for at least the 1st match, lost both Tests in Sri Lanka last month.

Tim Southee has stepped down as captain after New Zealand was thwarted 2-0 by Sri Lanka, with Tom Latham taking over as all-time captain for the 1st time.

The 2nd Test will begin in Pune on October 24, next to the third in Mumbai on November 1.
