South Africa's Cricket Ace Recalls Suryakumar Yadav's Crucial T20 World Cup Catch

NEW DELHI: South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to humorously reflect on a crucial moment from the 2024 T20 World Cup final, highlighting Suryakumar Yadav's game-changing catch that secured the title for India.

Shamsi shared a video demonstrating an unconventional technique for measuring catches during a local village match, where ropes were used to verify if a catch had crossed the boundary line.

In his post, Shamsi remarked, “If this method had been used to assess the catch in the World Cup final, it might have been ruled not out.” His comment revisits the dramatic final over of the World Cup, where South Africa required 16 runs from the last six balls to claim their first T20 World Cup trophy.

David Miller, famous for his powerful hitting, struck a full-toss from Hardik Pandya down the ground, only for Suryakumar to make a spectacular catch.

In a breathtaking display of skill, Suryakumar caught the ball near the boundary cushion, tossed it in the air as he crossed the rope, and swiftly re-entered the field to complete the catch.
