Broadcasters have begun airing programs that highlight the matchup between Rohit Sharma’s squad and Pat Cummins’ team. However, a section of fans on social media expressed discontent at Virat Kohli continuing to lead discussions regarding the series in Australia, despite Rohit Sharma being the Indian captain.

Even during TV meeting, Kohli remains the main topic, largely due to his significant fan base in Australia from his past performances. Lately, Rohit Sharma shared discernment into the team’s preparations for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, mentioning that they are focusing on growing the next generation of pace bowlers. He also indicated that expert seamer Mohammed Shami’s chances of participating in the series are quite less.

"It’s very challenging for us to determine whether he will be perfect for this series or the one against Australia. He recently experienced difficulty with unusual swelling in his knee," Rohit informed reporters before India’s first Test in opposition with New Zealand in Bengaluru.

"He was working towards getting fit and nearing 100% when he encountered this swelling, which set back his recovery process, requiring him to have a fresh stsrt. Contemporarily, he is at the NCA, collaborating with the physios and doctors there."
