Gautam Gambhir has achieved his first success as the Indian cricket team's coach. Following Rahul Dravid's guidance that led the team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Gambhir now faces the task of advancing the team further. After the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka, India is entering a lengthy Test season. Following the current Bangladesh Test series, they will face New Zealand and Australia. Ravichandran Ashwin will play a vital role in this journey.
Before this, Ashwin shared his insights on the differences between Gambhir and Dravid as coaches. “I think Gambhir is very laid-back. There’s nothing at all. In the morning huddle, it’s just, ‘Are you coming?’ In contrast, Rahul Bhai is very structured. He insists that everything should be in place, and it must be orderly. Gambhir has a more relaxed approach but still maintains a sense of order. He understands how to connect with the players and truly cares for them," Ashwin mentioned on his YouTube channel.
He also expressed gratitude to the fans for their incredible support during the first Test match against Bangladesh. He noted that this was one of the best Test pitches he has played on in India and encouraged curators to create similar surfaces for Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy matches.
