Indian cricket star Mohammed Shami recently underwent a successful heel surgery to address issues with his Achilles tendon. The right-arm pacer shared the news with his fans on social media, expressing his optimism about returning to the field soon.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shami wrote, "Just had a successful heel operation on my achilles tendon! π Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet. #AchillesRecovery #HeelSurgery #RoadToRecovery."

Shami's recent surgery comes after he missed several cricketing events due to his injury, including the home T20I series against Australia, the South Africa tour, and the Afghanistan series. Currently not part of the ongoing Test series against England, Shami last played for India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November, where he emerged as the tournament's highest wicket-taker with 24 dismissals in 7 matches.
Unfortunately, this development has ruled Shami out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, dealing a significant blow to his franchise, the Gujarat Titans. Shami had been a key player for the team, leading their pace attack with impressive performances in the previous seasons. In 2022, he claimed 20 wickets, and in 2023, he took 28 wickets at an average of 18.64, showcasing his skill with the new ball.
