In a record-breaking performance by veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who claimed his 1st-ever five-wicket haul in a Champions Trophy match as India bowled out Bangladesh for 228 runs, the Men in Blue did have a little fielding lapses. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul was at fault at the time of one such moment, which clearly angered former India captain Virat Kohli.
This took place on the very first ball of the 23rd over, when Jaker Ali ventured out of his crease to attack a fuller delivery from Ravindra Jadeja on the leg stump. As he attempted a flick, he missed the ball totally.
It was a golden chance for India to dismiss Bangladesh's sixth batter, but Rahul failed to gather the ball and at last he missed the stumping. This missed chance left Kohli visibly frustrated, as he was seen shouting in anger. This marked the 2nd time Jaker avoided a dismissal in the innings.
Previously, on the first ball of his innings, he had edged a delivery from Axar Patel outside the off-stump, which India captain Rohit Sharma spilled at slip, denying the spinner a chance at a maiden ODI hat-trick. The 37-year-old quickly apologized to Axar, folding his hands & repeatedly hitting the ground in anger.
For India, Mohammed Shami was the standout performer, with a superb 5-wicket haul, while Harshit Rana took 3 wickets.
