The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have named Dwayne Bravo as their new mentor for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Bravo, a T20 cricket icon, recently announced his retirement from all formats following a disappointing end to his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season due to injury. Just hours after revealing his decision to retire as a player, he signed on with KKR to replace Gautam Gambhir.

"DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His strong desire to win, combined with his extensive experience and knowledge, will greatly benefit the franchise and our players," said KKR CEO Venky Mysore.

The fact that Bravo, a legendary figure with the Chennai Super Kings, has chosen to join a rival IPL franchise has left many CSK fans shocked. Bravo expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter, stating: "I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the past decade in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I respect their operations highly.

"The owners’ passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like atmosphere create a unique environment. This is the ideal platform for me to transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players."

Bravo had previously retired from international cricket in 2021 and stepped away from the IPL.
