Kapil Dev Comments On Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli's Debate

Kapil Dev, the former India captain was callously blunt when he said the Indian team’s two stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli needed to practice more before the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Test series.

This statement came under criticism over the show of the two senior batsmen in the just concluded test series where India lost to New Zealand by 3-0. Kohli managed 93 runs against New Zealand, at 15.50, his worst home average since 2014 while Rohit had back-to-back poor performances. The captain was bowled out for 42 runs in his two Tests against Bangladesh; he only produced one decent score of 37 against New Zealand on home soil.

Soon enough the debate was raised about their poor planning and preparations and the decision to skip the Duleep Trophy in preparation for the Test calendar, while few experts even reckoned that the impending tour of Australia, which will comprise five Tests, will be a make-or-break series for the two.

Kapil said that the two senior batsmen of the side, along with those who had a dismal show in the series against New Zealand and Bangladesh such as KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan must go back to the nets and up the practice time. “Go back to the basics. In addition, the demonstrational coping strategy involves practice, and practice, and practice. If you say I will improve by sitting in the room then it won’t happen. If you are experiencing a tough time when practicing or performing, just practice more . The more you play the better is going to be for you,” Kapil Dev said.
